This policy explains what information 6 Degrees of Connection ("the site", "we") collects when you visit sixdegreesofconnection.com and how it's used. The short version: there are no accounts, we don't ask for your name or email to play, and the data we use is for running the game, understanding traffic and showing ads.

Information stored in your browser

• Game progress. A first-party cookie saves today's chain, your time and whether you finished, so you can come back later the same day.
• Theme preference. Your light or dark mode choice is saved in your browser's local storage.

This information stays on your device and isn't sent to us.

Information sent to our servers

To load the daily puzzle and search movies, your browser sends requests to our API, hosted on Cloudflare. Those requests include your movie search text and your time zone offset, so you get the right day's puzzle. Like most web hosts, Cloudflare may process technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver and secure the service. Movie searches are passed to The Movie Database (TMDB) to return results.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people visit, which pages they use and whether they finish the puzzle. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and game events (for example, puzzle completed or result shared). We use this only in aggregate to improve the game.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads on the site.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
