Terms of Use

These terms apply to sixdegreesofconnection.com and the 6 Degrees of Connection game ("the game", "we"). By playing the game or buying hints, you agree to them.
The game
The daily puzzle and the past-puzzle archive are free to play. Movie, TV and cast information comes from Wikidata, a volunteer-edited database, and may contain mistakes or gaps. Actor photos come from Wikimedia Commons and are used under the licenses listed in the photo credits. Names of movies, shows and people belong to their owners; the game isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any studio, network or actor. We may change puzzles, features and data at any time.
Hints
- Free hint. You get one free hint for each day's puzzle. Past puzzles don't use hints: their answers are free in the archive.
- Hint packs. You can buy more hints in packs. Prices are in US dollars and shown before you pay, and the price shown is the total. It's a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
- What a hint is. A hint is used when it's shown to you. Hints are a digital item for use in the game only. They have no cash value and can't be transferred, resold or exchanged for money.
- No expiry. Hints don't expire. If the game ever shuts down, unused hints end with it, and we'll post a notice on the site beforehand.
- Your balance. Your hint balance is kept on our server, linked to your browser by a cookie and to the email you enter at checkout. To use your hints on another device or after clearing your cookies, open the hint panel, choose "Bought hints on another device?" and enter that email to get a 6-digit code.
Payment
Payments are processed by Stripe. The sale is handled by Link, Stripe's checkout service, which emails your receipt; your card statement may show LINK.COM. Your card details go directly to Stripe, and we never see or store them.
Refunds and problems
If something goes wrong with a purchase, for example your hints didn't arrive, email hello@sixdegreesofconnection.com with the email you used at checkout, and we'll add the missing hints or refund the purchase. Because hints are delivered right away, purchases are otherwise final, except where the law gives you a right to a refund. Link may also refund a purchase under its own refund policy. If a purchase is refunded or disputed, the hints from it are removed from your balance (as many as are left).
Fair play
Please don't use bots or scripts against the game or its API, overload it, or try to get hints without paying for them. We may limit or remove access, and remove hints, obtained that way.
No warranty
The game is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't promise that it will always be available, error-free, or that every puzzle or hint is solvable the way you expect.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the game. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes
We may update these terms. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Hints you've already bought keep working the way they did when you bought them.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
